Our Founders
Thierry – Co-Founder & President
Originally from Burundi, Thierry moved to Prince George at the age of 10 after leaving his war-torn homeland. Passionate about giving back, he founded the Give a Chance Society, raising funds to help children in Burundi access education. His dedication to community work led him to collaborate with Toni and Kirsten in launching the annual Black History Gala in 2023, which ultimately inspired the creation of the Cariboo North Cultural Society.
Toni – Co-Founder & Vice-President
Born in South Africa, Toni moved to Prince George at a young age and has been a strong advocate for cultural exchange ever since. Her passion for sharing her heritage led her to establish Serengeti Northern BC, bringing authentic African cuisine to the local community. Through the Society, Toni continues to promote cultural appreciation and unity, believing in the power of shared traditions to bring people together.
Kirsten – Co-Founder & Treasurer/Secretary
Born and raised in Prince George, Kirsten has always been deeply connected to her community. With a passion for photography, design, and event planning, she enjoys creating opportunities for people to come together through local events and fundraisers. She is dedicated to celebrating the cultural richness of Prince George and ensuring its deep-rooted history is honored and shared.
